I really hope the Royals pull this off now. This story keeps building.

Hey -- a team that survived an elimination game with eight shutout innings from Zito can do anything.

But Petit might be warming up pregame right along Vogelsong tonight.

I've said it before. I'll say it again.

I think KC wins it in 5. I hope KC wins it in 6.

A thought that had never entered my mind before entered it this morning, while I was grocery shopping...

Where will the Ned Yost Statue go?

Just dredged this out of the wayback machine in my brain, probably thinking about the early '80s and the John Lowe thread.
Al Campanis told me that he was trying to acquire Yost for catching depth. "He's a pretty good catcher and he's smart. He will be a manager some day," Campanis said.

A historical note. The Giants have been down 2-1 in seven previous World Series. Only once (1922) did they come back to win and that was a best-of nine World Series.

That was also the last time the Giants won the WS at home (though the Polo Grounds was basically the home for both teams at that time). They've never done it in SF.

Royals say they're getting the Maury Wills treatment.

Legit gamesmanship. No different than teams who let the infield grass grow a little longer to slow down grounders. It affects both teams, so play ball.

Completely agree. As long as it's within whatever rules MLB has set (and I really don't know a great deal about what those are), deal with it.
