I guess I'm getting my answer. Just seems silly to waste Butler with no one on. And now he's unproductive.

I thought they would wait until there was a baserunner before sending up Butler.

Nedly's managing of this postseason should put to rest any talk of a manager being some super duper wizard that can will his team to victory.

And Juan Perez of all people is the one to solve Davis. Baseball, man.

Giants got their piece off Herrera and Davis. Interesting. Very interesting.

This is why I said there was no way Royals were winning in five.

Madison Bumgarner World Series career 4-0, 4 GS, 31 IP, 0.29 ERA

    Career postseason ERA 2.27

    Career regular-season ERA 3.06

That guy positive-variates the shit out of the postseason.

Of World Series pitching performances in my baseball fandom lifetime (1982 onward), Jack Morris' Game 7 in 1991 stands alone, but Bumgarner tonight is up there with Orel Hershiser's Game 2 in 1988 & Josh Beckett's Game 6 in 2003.

(Tom Glavine's Game 6 in 1995 was great too, but it wasn't a complete game).

If Madison Bumgarner isn't the best pitcher in baseball, I'd like to know who is.

    Come on now.

But he is the best value in baseball -- $3.75M this year, $6.75M next, doesn't cross the eight-figure threshold until 2017, and team options (between $14M and $16M) through 2019.

Yeah, I'm biased. But look at his postseason record, where it ultimately counts. He is definitely the Mr. October of the mound.

Tim Hudson, always with the genitalia:

Hudson on Bumgarner: "He has a set of brass balls that are bigger than anybody I've played with."

That would be Clayton Kershaw, but who am I to quibble.
