Usually I hate thinking that type of reliever is a weapon because it means your starter has been ineffective and you are likely losing. But Pettit has been amazing. Even in '12 that's what was happening with Lincecum.

One more game; I still remember the euphoria of taking the 3-2 lead in '02; the good news is this team:

    Has a better bullpen;
Has better starters (I trust Peavy and Hudson more than Ortiz and Livan)
    Has better chemistry (No Bonds)

I've got a feeling/hoping that the Royals dwell on Gm. 4, up 4-1 as their shot to take this series and they couldn't hold it.

I'd love to see MadBum do the Big Unit remix and go Gm. 7 for the win (relief) but I would rather see the win in Gm. 6.

I really do miss the old days when your stud wen Gms. 1, 4 & 7.

Yes, 02 can definitely be blamed on Bonds.

Are people really doubting Bum's cred?
Shields has a career postseason ERA over 5, and people keep calling him Big Game James, which is ridiculous.

Also, why does Fox insist on reminding us during each game that Moustakis was sent to the minors "to learn how to enjoy the game again"?

He's a great pitcher, he is not the best pitcher in baseball.

People called him that as a take-off on James Worthy's identical nickname, and they do so ironically now. And no one will be doing so after this offseason.

    Wait.

This team has a better shot to close it out because they don't have Barry Bonds, known albatross in a lineup?

Imagine if they had scrappy Eckstein.

Yeah ... I don't want to be associated with that kind of Giants fanboydom.

They've got Joe Panik, who is already getting groomed to take Eckstein's mantle if Reynolds and Verducci are to be believed. (Fully acknowledging that Panik is already better than Eckstein ever was.)

SIGH. This post, fantastic though it is, makes me really miss FJM.

He had a 1.994 OPS in that World Series. Who would want that in their lineup?

Stop thinking about baseball and start thinking about emotions, then you'll understand.
