George Halas similarly told Chris Berman that Red Grange would run for 800 yards in today's NFL.

    "That's it?"

"Well, he is 70 years old!"

Lefty O'Doul, a highly quotable Giants outfielder in the 1930s, worked the offseason banquet circuit for years with a similar line about Ty Cobb.

Oh, yeah. I have no doubt.

Moving back to the current realm (sort of) ... nobody has gone deep since Omar Infante off Human Ignition Strickland in Game 2.

It's the first Series to go three games without a home run since 1948.

Pretty appropriate for these two teams, huh?

The Royals weren't built for home runs and the Giants haven't been a big power team since May. Perez though missed one by two or three inches.

I was talking about the hypothetical Bonds, like what if we could transport the guy from 2002 to this team, not the literal Bonds who hasn't been this trim since 1997.

    Thanks for clearing that up.

Royals in 5, most likely, with the 2002 Bonds on the team. Royals in 7, though, had the 2002 Bonds been relegated to bench-duty only.

Yeah. I didn't think the Giants were going to hit one at all. Certainly not to dead center.

I'm not sure there's room for Bonds on this team.

Honestly, you guys are probably right. The team chemistry has formed because there really isn't an egotistical person on the team (publicly, anyway). I just throw that out there for Bonds' power threat, about the only thing lacking from this offense. Morse I guess is next logical power hitter, but even he hasn't produced the homers like he did in May.
