Willingham should have hit for Aoki in the 5th (when he was the go-ahead run) or for Moustakas in the 7th. If Bochy wasn't going to pull Bumgarner for a right-hander in the 9th, he certainly wouldn't have done it then.

Managers with more championships than Bruce Bochy:

    Joe McCarthy .... 7
    Casey Stengel ... 7
    Connie Mack ... 4
    Walter Alston ... 4
    Joe Torre .... 4

He definitely should have hit for Moustakas in that situation. He could have batted 100 times against him, and he wasn't getting on base. I was surprised to see him up there.

Not until he starts batting his pitchers seventh in the lineup. That would be revolutionary.

    Bumgarner's next frontier.

Perez looked like shit all night after the HBP. How bad is the backup catcher?

No one knows because he never plays.

I assume Ned was waiting for an RBI situation, but one never presented itself. Also he had to be thinking (as I'm sure we all were) "he can't go forever, we'll get our chance against Casilla."

Tell me the era from baseball's glory days where you would have faced a bullpen like the Royals'.

Not really. Based on winning the World Series in 2010 and 2012, there was a pretty good track record. The regular season is a marathon. It's all about getting to October and fortunately the Giants banked enough wins earlier in the season that they were able to get that second wild card. From everything I saw this season, Bochy kept a steady hand, win or lose.

OK. What did he do to give you that impression? What indicated his "steady hand"?

    The '89 A's scored a whopping 61 more runs than the '14 Royals: 712 to 651.

The '98 Yanks played Steroids Ball and scored 965.

The '75 Reds scored 840, or 44 more than the '75 Sox.

The '14 Angels led the AL with 773 runs yet couldn't even win one playoff game against the shit-ass no-scoring Royals.

The '14 Orioles were 6th in the AL with 705 runs yet couldn't even win one playoff game against the no-hitting mamsy-pamsy Royals.

    It's all relative.
