Don't think it's taken anyone longer than it took Butler to run from first to home last night. That was a marathon for him.

Chevy Guy would have made it faster.

Kershaw is no Koufax, not yet anyway. Koufax is a two-time World Series MVP with a lifetime 4-3 record and 0.95 ERA in the Fall Classic. Kershaw has been great in the regular season but a bust in the postseason (1-5, 5.12). He may get there eventually. But he's not there now.

If Koufax was so great, why did he lose three games?

The funny thing is, two of the biggest baserunning plays of the night were made by the two slowest guys on the field.

If Butler doesn't go first to home on Gordon's double, he probably doesn't score on Infante's sac fly. But by scoring on the double, he cleared third base for Gordon, who DID score on the sac fly.

And then Sandoval took third on the fly ball to left. Not only did he beat Gordon's rocket arm, but he also got in position to score on Morse's bloop single. Sandoval probably doesn't score from second on that hit.

When Koufax was Kershaw's age, he'd pitched a grand total of 9 postseason innings.

LOVE that the Bumgarners stayed with us this postseason. This just happened:
Tim: Goodnight, man. I love you.
Madison: Love you too, man. ❤

It was Hudson's love that propelled Bumgarner to inhuman heights.

    That much seems obvious.

Big C, thanks for your graciousness.

Those last 5 innings are exactly why I love 1-0 games. To have that in a Gm. 7 is a thrill I could not have ever imagined and something I truly hope all baseball fans get to experience one day (really, because I just love baseball.) Every pitch had the promise of success and disaster. I love that.

During the game, after Infante's hit, I saw Escobar show bunt and I was happy to see it, because it left Aoki, who I thought MadBum could handle (another Bochy call, Ishikawa does not get that ball), then it was basically one batter, Cain. Krukow on the home radio (which I sync'd to the TV, heaven) said MadBum was having a hard time finding his release point at the start, that was the main concern. But after the 5th, he found it and was rolling.

Giants have been blessed with Timmy, Cain, Posey, but MadBum's performance was head and shoulders over anything they've done or anyone else I've seen in my half century (I did not see Koufax in '67).

After '10, I said that was enough for me; '12 was just dessert; '14? must be like the totally unexpected inheritance (I have not ever gotten one.)

Royals were a great story and did not fold after Gm. 4 like I thought; congrats to you for a great season and here's hoping you can sustain the success.

To MadBum and the Giants of 2014, thanks.
