Those two losses were the last two in a stretch that saw them go 3-10 over the previous 13 and 9-18 over the previous 27. It wasn't just two games.

Where in the hell did Shields ever get the nickname "Big Game" James?

I think Joe Maddon gave it to him. But it's become more of an ironic nickname of late, like "Big Game Bob" Stoops.

Ask Verlander how hard it is to pitch on extended rest against the Giants. Man you love wrapping up a series as quickly as possible, but Giants showing why the layoff is rough for teams.

Shouldn't have let them play video games during the layoff.

Not much to say so far. But I made the mistake of turning off the A's-Royals wild card game when it was 7-3. Not repeating it tonight.

Well, if you're going to shit your pants, may as well fall down the stairs and then throw up on your girlfriend that same night as well. Get it all out of the way.

Will be interesting to see if Yost brings back Shields for Game 5 if it gets to that point, especially if the Royals are down 3-1.

I know he's their ace, but he's been brutal for going on a month.

Now, Fox has whored itself to sponsor the singing of God Bless America?
    Embarrassing.

Agree. I think you pitch Duffy in Game 5. Shields has been hit HARD in all of the post-season. A's, Angels, Orioles -- all of them hit him hard but defense bailed him out in all of them.

FWIW: Jerry Meals has had a horse shit strike zone since the first pitch of the game.....which he missed.

I was more pissed when I saw a cutaway of Carl Peterson, the longtime Chiefs GM, talking with George Brett.

Talk about asking for a disappointing home playoff loss.

If I see Petersen tomorrow at Game 2, I'll tell my dad that - if he wants to make up for anything in the past between us - to punch Peterson in the face and we will be all square. :)
