    Keep dropping, Piazza.

    Hall of Fame hitter,
    Hall of Lame catcher.

You're a Hall of Fame hitter or a Hall of Fame pitcher. Defense doesn't matter after the Mazeroski fiasco. Piazza belongs in Cooperstown.

I continue to be baffled by the lack of support for Bagwell. Raines, Mussina, I disagree but understand. Explain to me how Thomas is a first ballot cinch and Bagwell is going backward.

Impressive. But it should adjusted to take out ABs by Maddux and Glavine (or Ozzie Smith for that matter, who's not in the HOF for his offense). The numbers would still be unbelievable, by why include the pitchers?

Chipper Jones was 13 for 36 with six homers agains the Big Unit.
Side note: One of my favorite radio call-in show moments ever was when a caller asked Skip Caray why Johnson was called "The Big Eunuch." Gold.

What should be the last update, a half hour before the announcement. 205 ballots, which is 35.9 percent of last year

    98.5 - R. Johnson
    97.6 - P. Martinez
    86.3 - Smoltz
    84.9 - Biggio
    76.0 - Piazza
    ————————————
    63.4 - Raines
    62.4 - Bagwell
    51.2 - Schilling
    43.9 - Bonds
    43.4 - Clemens
    35.1 - Mussina
    31.2 - E. Martinez
    24.0 - Trammell
    21.1 - Lee Smith
    15.7 - McGriff
    14.2 - Kent
    9.8 - Sheffield
    7.8 - L. Walker

Wow, so 473 HRs and 1500+ RBI gets you 1.5 percent?

There are still about 350 votes out there, so I think Delgado will poll a little higher. I don't think he will stay on the ballot though. Blame the logjam.
