Plus he should have Ron White and VanVleet back for next season, so he should be in line for another pretty strong season. I wonder how much he'll play the game of banking on which jobs will be open next season, then put up another big year and have some bigger options then. Indiana? Or if Texas will throw enough money at him and he'll realize how much more fun it would be to live in Austin than it would Wichita.

That or he will figure out that being the Missouri Valley version of Mark Few isn't so bad after all. Beloved, no football to compete with and all.

True. He's holding out for the Mason job I bet!

I doubt coaches care too much about the city where they live. The smart and safe move is to get a 10-year, $30 million deal to stay at Wichita and never look back, but if a school is going to talk him into leaving, I could see Texas doing it.

Steve Prohm at Murray State is going to get one of the open jobs. He's a 104-29 in four seasons and making around $300k, which is kingly money in Murray County, Kentucky but pocket change for some of these schools.

I think Murray is the only place he's ever coached but no way can they keep him around.

Prohm's name has been floating around the Mason rumor mill the last week or so. And apparently, that's not a joke. I'd be 100% on board with that hire.

Ron "White"? I think I smell a Freudian slip.

The MVC isn't what it once was since Creighton left. Aside from Northern Iowa and Wichita, there aren't any perennial Sweet 16 contenders in that conference. Bradley, Missouri State and Southern Illinois, all good programs at one point, are in the toilet right now.

Obviously, Wichita State cares about more than just winning the MVC, but their road to getting into the NCAA tournament is a lot easier than it used to be.

Prohm and Murray St agree on a new contract.

Wowsers, new contract through 2020 and $500,000 annually, with $490,000 guaranteed.

He has to be the best paid low major coach in the country now.

Ha, sort of. Was listening to the comedy channel on Sirius and he was on at the time. I didn't think it sounded right, for a good reason.

Steve Lavin out at St. John's. Have they scheduled an interview with Gregg Marshall yet?
