Do y'all really think expectations are out of whack at Texas? I think that program should be consistently in the upper half of the Big 12 and in the dance damn near every year. Maybe I'm wrong -- yeah, like that would happen :D ...

Cities aside, Texas is a far better job than Alabama.

I don't think expectations are ridiculous at Texas. Barnes was there for a long time. How many times did he make the Final Four? Once?

I think Texas makes the tournament damn near every year, doesn't it?

Maybe it just seems like they don't ... I usually don't start watching until the second round. :p

I agree Texas is a better job. There's no Saban casting his total eclipse shadow over the program.

But their spouses see the city in which the coach and his family lives, and I've never made a move without significant input from my wife, so there's that.

And Marshall has school-age kids, so there are things to consider for that family beyond the job and the money.

I'm remembering when Barnes left Clemson for Texas and his wife popped off about how much better the schools in Travis County would be. Turns out the school district they were (ostensibly) leaving was statistically stronger than the one to which they were moving. Not that a D1 basketball coach at that level's going to have kids locked into some mediocre school system, mind you.

Texas is, in a lot of ways, the best job in the country. You've got pretty much unlimited resources and it's a place where you can get the 5-star recruits, but the expectations and pressures aren't ridiculous.

Except for the ones who lose games. They need to work harder so they aren't outcoached.
