I've talked to people who work at Texas, and they've pretty much all said that their departments have no budget, meaning they get what they need, no questions asked. So there's that.

There is also no state income tax in Texas, a not unimportant consideration at that level.

I wonder if that also played a part in Barnes jumping on Tennessee so quickly.

Circus: God called McKay to serve Tony Bennett. God then called him back to LU. Respect the religion, brah.

See, God just needs to offer a six-figure raise and everyone would follow.

Hey, I'm happy for the guy. Never heard a bad thing about him, as opposed to a certain other former UVA coach who returned to his previous gig.

I was being sarcastic. Had no issue with RM his first go-around in these parts. He should be fine to work with again. But like you said about Leitao ... ugh.

So Marshall is getting a 7 year deal worth an average of $3.3M a year to stay at Wichita? Daaaaaaaaaamn.

He'll likely be making more at Wichita than Smart will at Texas. That's nuts.

I'm guessing the average yearly salary in Smart's deal will be higher, but I doubt he gets a 7-year dreal. Still, Marshall made the smart move staying where he was.

I think UCLA offered Smart $4 million a year a couple years ago. I know this isn't all about money, but I would think Smart will be closer to $4 million a year than $3 million.

I thought I read where Texas is capping it at $3M. Now, obviously, that could (and probably will) change, but I do think I read that somewhere.

That might have been the intent, and maybe they can get Smart for that. I don't think Smart is a realistic candidate anywhere else, at least not yet. I think $3.5 a year would be my over/under for Smart.

    I'll take the under.

The number that would get the most action on both sides might be like $3.1M. :)
