So it isn't the NCAAs, but Old Dominion and Murray State had the finish of the year last night in the NIT quarters.

Anyone else taking West Virginia tonight?

Bob Huggins' daughters are probably taking vicodin tonight.

ESPN almost made Huggins seem likable in the segment it just showed.

Has he mellowed? I just remember him as an all-timer on the asshole barometer.

Not especially, I don't think. Huggins got a lot of mileage out of lying on the floor and comforting Da'Sean Butler after he blew out his knee against Duke, but if you watch the clips of that, you can hear Huggins in the early moments screaming at the refs because he thought Butler was fouled intentionally.

I just don't think he gives a shit about many things anymore, his image or how he's portrayed being two of them. Just look at how he dresses on the sidelines. He used to wear flashy suits. Now, he's in slacks and a pullover jacket that looks like a fucking Hefty bag.

Yeah, early in my career (1996-2001) it seemed like every year when I covered the tournament I would wind up where Cincy was and would have to deal with Huggins and he was just a complete dickhead. I can't think of any big-time coaches who were consistently that awful to deal with. I remember talking with someone who was his beat writer for a couple years and he hated Huggins with a passion.

Which coach is going to blow it tonight for his team? Calipari or Huggins?

I can't imagine Cal blowing it tonight. I don't see any realistic threat until the national semis, assuming Wisconsin or Arizona make it.

But if Kentucky loses, it's Cal's fault. Just wait.

Huggins was worse. Knight could at least fill up a notebook.

The last time I dealt with Knight when he was in the NCAAs while at Tech, they were playing at the United Center and it seemed like he was being baited with half the questions from Chicago or Indianapolis media who were there. I remember him staring down a TV guy who asked him something like, "are you checking to see which chairs are the most throwable"
