    You are right about that.

Izzo should have run the triple-iso back-door alley-oop seven or eight times and had his players jump over the ball-screen with their ElastiGirl hands. That he didn't do that is an embarrassment to his legacy.

Calipari should really be run out of town for that choke job. What an embarrassment to Kentucky basketball. And just wait. There will be another firing tonight.

    Fucking losers.

Yeah, I don't buy into that crap. Roy Williams, Jim Boeheim, Lute Olson, Billy Donovan all had reputations as choke artists at one point during their careers.

How many instances are there of Michigan State underachieving? I can think of more instances where they win 2-4 games as a 6 or 7 seed than I can think of an embarrassing upset.

2006, for some reason, comes to mind. :)

Among the dumbest things I've EVER read on these threads, and that is saying something. Hell that would be saying something if I just went with YOUR posts but this is clearly in the conversation as the dumbest post ever.

Because, you know, he's the only guy who recruits good players, the best players.

Again, Duke has nine McDonald's All-Americans and more one-and-dones in its starting lineup than Kentucky - and yet they didn't win their conference or their conference tournament and I'm sure if they lose tonight we won't hear one peep about "team over talent" and all that bullshit.

Give me a fucking break - if you don't like the guy and think he is a sleezeball, I probably wouldn't completely disagree.

But this is the kind of silly shit I hear all the time and it shows a fundamental lack of a clue about how hard it is to win every game in any sport.

I think George Mason's run that year may have made it a little less embarrassing after the fact. :D

The kernel of truth in zag's unhinged rants is that if Wisconsin wins, it will be a victory for the "true virtue" of college basketball -- when in reality Kentucky (and to a lesser extent Duke) perfectly represent the state of the game today.

I hate the thinking that any year when a title is not won is a failure. It seems like more and more people think that way in a lot of sports and it's pretty sad. If you're devastated every time your team doesn't win it all, you're going to be miserable a lot.

And here is the other thing - Izzo's "genius" for getting this No. 7 seed to the Final Four is more proof of just how dumb these narratives really are and how, often, you become a victim, or benefit from, where you are placed in the bracket.

Izzo was supposed to beat the No. 10, then he happened to get to play the No. 2 that was extremely overrated and more importantly, plays a style that doesn't generally translate into winning big in the NCAA, then he got a pedestrian Big 12 team (a league that was exposed as having some good teams but no great teams) and a Louisville team that (a) can't score and (b) was without its point guard and down to two and 1/2 legitimate players.

True when a guys team gets there as much as his you have to tip your cap, but there are so many factors that go ignored and/or just pooh poohed when we want to adore or kill certain coaches with their tournament performance.

The same can be said for Duke - who got the easiest path to the final in a long, long time.

Izzo is a great coach, one of the best, but this year's run to the Final Four was extremely overrated.

Misery is underrated. We'd all prefer it if Red Sox fans were nearing 100 years of misery.

Yeah, Wisconsin is a bit of a rarity today, and not that unlike Duke 20-25 years ago. Most of the players stay 3-4 years and most get a lot better the longer they stay. It's pretty rare in a major program.

That, or that they had all just committed mass suicide. :D
