Seeing Duke win a national title is like seeing the dealer hit blackjack.

Bo talks refs. "It's just a shame it had to be played that way."

But what of that sj.com tradition like none other from Nantz at the end of the game?

This is the one I was looking for.

Barney pulling for the bad guys in movies.

Did anyone else notice Bob Kravitz asking a question at the presser and identifying himself first as Indy Star and then correcting himself to the TV station call letters?

    From yahoo.com:

<<ESPN's Jay Bilas said on ESPN after the game, "I wasn't picking apart the officiating in this one. I don't think officiating had anything to do with the winner or loser.">>

Oh yeah, what college did Bilas attend? Shocked! Shocked, I tell you.

I was there, 7th row from the ceiling - 600 level... which means that you all probably had a far better view of the game. :)

As a Wisconsin fan, I'd love to bitch about the officiating. But that wasn't the difference. When UW was up 9, they played to hold the lead instead of win. Duke upped the defense, shots were forced, Dekker disappeared and Kaminsky did his unnecessary spin moves before falling away and missing.

K reversed the foul trouble, perhaps without even trying. With Okafor on the bench, Duke erased the lead and when he finally came back, he was completely fresh against a tired Wisconsin team. Physically and psychologically a huge lift for Duke.

My gripe on Wisconsin was why didn't they keep pushing inside in the second half for more fouls. They didn't get to the line enough and that's on the Badgers.

Great season. Saw old friends from the grunge era. Took the kids to the FanFest.

This was also the first college basketball game I watched from the top of a football stadium. Just awful. Like watching a game taking place in another gym - and I was lucky. Seats were on the sideline but not the baseline. We were all carrying on conversations in the 600 level while all the crowd noise seemed a mile away. Add in not knowing whether a shot went in until you looked at the bench reaction. Glad I was there for the atmosphere and the experience. If UW ever gets back to a final, I'll watch it with a catered meal at home.

Hate being the next day "blame the refs" guy, but goddamn, did I ever hate the refs in that game. After Okafor got in foul trouble seemed like every borderline call started going Duke's way. I suppose Duke still deserved to win, but that stuff still leaves a foul taste. Saturday's games also featured an intolerable number of bad calls (regardless of in which team's favor), poor officiating was the black stain on this tournament.

And another thought: How shitty must Rasheed Sulaimon feel this morning?
