In every dealing I've ever had with him -- admittedly it hasn't been terribly many -- I've always gotten the impression that he's perpetually ticked off about something and the recognition factor is a pretty good candidate for that something.

Does anyone here know if UConn talked to him about replacing Calhoun? Or if Geno has any interest in doing so?

900+ wins and 10 titles says that whatever he has them do in practice is working pretty well in games.

Really it just says he signs all the best players. Same as how Calipari wins titles some years and goes 38-1 other years.

No women's team was going to beat Diana Taurasi or Maya Moore.

Why is it fair to say that about him but not Summit? Or Shashevsky? Or (insert oft-champion coach here)?

    Shashevsky. Awesome.

I don't recall Summitt stockpiling all the best talent like that. Maybe around the Holdsclaw/Catchings time, but not earlier. She also plainly could coach during games. Coach K (Coach S?) can plainly coach during games.

Just isn't in Geno's profile to do that.

Too many K's and W's and vowels to remember how to spell it. In this case, phonetically is much easier.

You can stockpile but you still have to win the whole enchilada. I guess I'd want to see your work when you say he isn't some great tactician when games actually *are* on the line.

Wasn't he the guy the Packers tried to hire before "settling" for Lombardi?

OK ... in the last four years, UConn's overall record is 146-10.

When the final margin is within single digits, UConn's record is 1-8.

A lot of the WNBA players do play in Europe during the 9- month offseason. The top stars make more money over there than they do in the U.S.

From Maraniss' book, they were looking at a bunch of guys, including Evashevski (sp?) from Iowa. Curly Lambeau even wanted to come back.

So it's either undefeated or bust?
