2015 Pro Wrestling Thread

This was probably the best show of the year, unless I'm forgetting one. Plenty of highs, and only a few things felt flat (divas' match, New Day segment), but they didn't torpedo the show or those angles.

 

Once they did the "you're fired" bit I knew Roman was going to win the title. I think it was almost a must after Sheamus' lukewarm (at best) heel reaction.

Now we'll get Roman vs. The McMahons all the way to Mania. Sheamus will probably get his rematch at the Rumble in an "Irish Street Fight" or something to his favor.

Rumble winner: Man, I'd love to see Bray but I'm leaning toward Owens here.

I could see Ambrose winning as well, setting up a brother vs. brother build up that keeps getting egged on by the McMahons and ends up with one of them turning.

 

Still making my way through RAW from Monday but I noticed they put out some of the nominees for the Slammys and Sasha v. Bayley at NXT: Brooklyn wasn't on the list.
Bull. Fucking. Shit.
I know the WWE typically doesn't include NXT bouts in its awards but this is a slight of ridiculous levels. Possibly the greatest WWE female wrestling match in history and they don't even get a nomination? So Sting v. HHH can get a slot? Seriously? That match was the worst match on a great Mania card and still the only bout from the show nominated.
What. A. Joke.

 

If I'm not mistaken, Cena-Owens I wasn't in there either, and I think that may have been match of the year if we're excluding the two Sasha-Bayley matches.

 

I could get used to mid-afternoon NXT TakeOver watching at work. Hell, have them all in London.

 

You guys know the Slammys aren't real, right?

 

The nominees for Match of the Year were:
1) Cena-Rollins-Lesnar (Royal Rumble)
2) Sting-Triple H (Wrestlemania)
3) Cena-Owens I (Elimination Chamber)
4) Reigns-Ziggler-Owens-Del Rio (No. 1 contender match from Raw)
5) Lesnar-Undertaker (Hell in a Cell)

The Rumble triple threat and Cena-Owens are legit contenders. Those have been talked about as MOTY candidates since the second they concluded. Sting-Triple H was fun, but as someone said not even close to the best match on the card. I don't even remember the fatal four-way, and Lesnar-Taker was fine but it was no better than the third-best Lesnar match of the year.

 

That Cena/Cesaro match from Raw that went 30 minutes belongs on that list. Sting/Trips was nothing compared to that.

 

My favorite match of the year was the Royal Rumble triple threat but I voted for Cena Owens I in the Majies.

I'm not sure Sasha Bayley I is my favorite divas match of the year. The four way at the February (?) Takeover was amazing and would be my pick.

 

This is the problem the main roster Divas need. Multiple matches that should be MOTY candidates, and ones that make us forget about outstanding matches that took place before then.
