As a brief aside, I think Michigan has shown improvement, but still has a ways to go. Peaked too early (let's not forget the out-and-out ass-whipping they gave Penn State), but them being a top-10ish team basically means they're back where they were for the bulk of the Lloyd Carr era, which isn't bad. All the seniors who got their butts whipped in the trenches last night are still Hoke's recruits, and though there may be a rocky road replacing possibly the entire starting defense, they're back in the conversation, which is OK for me.

Right, you're in the post-Carr era. He retired after the 2007 season. My point is that Harbaugh has at least returned them to where they were in the 1990s, which is an accomplishment considering how bad things had gotten under RichRod and Hoke.

For the record, Michigan's final rankings in the AP poll from 1998 (the year after the national championship) to Carr's retirement are as follows:
    12, 5, 11, 20, 9, 6, 14, NR, 8, 18.

Heck, for as much as Bo is ballyhooed, in his last 10 seasons, Michigan's end-of-season ranking was:
    4, 12, NR, 8, NR, 2, 8, 19, 4, 7.

So, at least Michigan is a national contender again, which I'm good with at this point. Rome wasn't built in a day, as they say.

I am thoroughly unimpressed by Hurts. And Kiffin.

I think we're about done here.

I've questioned a few of Kiffin's playcalls, but let's not forget that these guys aren't running downhill all day long if he doesn't have some kind of solid plan in place.

I can overlook Hurts because he's a true freshman and this is a tough D.

Kiffin has been a fraud his whole career. A football trust-fund brat.
