Nope. They went kicking a screaming into the BCS -- but they went. Even gave up a few New Year's Day games for national championship games. They went into the playoff. Obstructing what? A big parade in the morning. A tradition-rich game at a reasonable hour across the country played in mostly -- gasp -- daylight. It's a huge day in Pasadena and in SoCal.

The Rose Bowl is not the problem. It's the morons thinking the playoffs are good on New Year's Eve.

You just applauded the (gasp) Rose bowl for playing in daylight - like grandpa used to - then said a playoff game should be played at 9 fuckin' p.m.

    Not necessarily. Tradition means something.

There's something to be said about tradition. The Rose is played at 2 p.m. PST. The Orange and Sugar bowls have mostly always been played late on New Year's night -- after the Rose Bowl. What's the difference if it's a playoff game or not?

They went, yes, but only after a decade or so of putting the kibosh on any kind of playoff system by insisting they needed to stick to their Big Ten-Pac-10 game come hell or high water, even when the other major bowls were finally ready to move forward.

Can't go more than one play without 8 minutes of break. Such an unenjoyable experience.

Well, you could use the first "hole" in 18-point, then 16-point, 14-point. Readers will get that. ;)

Yeah, and for good reason: The other bowls didn't have what the Rose has -- and still don't. And yet, the Rose still gave up its tradition for the sake of the sport, even when it didn't have the title game, like that traditional matchup in 2011 between Wisconsin and TCU (which was a hell of game).
