    The point is, if a semifinal was after the Rose Bowl, it would be starting at least a half-hour late. You can't put a game between the semifinals.

    Translation: No one gives a crap about print. And hasn't for 30-some years. Sports are TV driven. Period. They pay the bills.

    But New Year's Eve is OK. Got it. Four-hour gaps are fine. This was the highest-scoring Rose Bowl in more than a century. Flukes happen.

    That was a great Rose Bowl, but let's not go crazy here. Like all of 'em, the Rose Bowl's had its share of stinkers.

    True. But even with all the changes in CFB, plus being a California native, still have a lot of affection for the game.
