I think USC should have to beat Florida State first.

To this minute, I still have no earthly idea who McSorley decided to not run the ball and 3rd and long when USC had no timeouts left from inside his own 30.
Run the ball. Play for overtime.

Jeez, USC didn't even cover the point spread.

USC beat Penn State, which lost to Pitt, which lost to Oklahoma State, which lost to Central Michigan, which lost to Virginia, which lost to Richmond, which lost to Stony Brook, which lost to Sacred Heart, which lost to Central Connecticut State, which lost to Lafayette, which lost to to Bucknell, which lost to VMI.

Not sure what a big deal beating Penn State is.

Agree with this. Maybe they both showed they should've been in, but no way a 3-loss team should make a 4-team playoff. Penn State should've been in as the conference champion and hopefully OSU's performance will make that a more important criterion from now on. (But PSU shouldn't have lost to Pitt, either)

And they lost to Pitt in the same stupid fashion: A pick late.

I hope Clemson wins so we can call VMI the best team in the land.

Not in their DNA, Chef. They lived by the sword and died by the sword -- hang it up there and expect one of the wideouts to go up and get it. If Godwin had been aware of the safety's presence, my guess is he would have done just that on the final pass.

By the way, if Allen Robinson is an upper-crust NFL receiver, it's scary to think what Chris Godwin will be.

Except no, because Chicago, Indy, Lincoln, St. Paul, Council Bluffs, and Wausau didn't bid to host bowl games.

Well , Carnegie Mellon fans weren't really known to travel.
