It's a business decision. The Cavs pay more for their big three and are less likely to keep them for their entire careers the way the 80s Celtics and Lakers did.

The Cavs are protecting the investment.

Agreed. And they are subject to criticism for disrespecting their customer base. And when Memphis sold tickets for the Cleveland game they didn't commit fraud by falsely claiming the all the players on the roster would appear because they didn't know at the time Cleveland would send a partial team. But doesn't Cleveland have an obligation, a business obligation, to put its best product on the court? Don't the customers deserve consideration?
When you go to a Broadway play you expect the stars not the understudys. And 95% of the time the stars show up, but for illness or tragedy, not to kick back on a short vaca

If you buy a ticket to a game thinking you are guaranteed to see any particular player, you are an idiot.

And Broadway stars usually do a show for a short, intense run. There's a reason Hamilton has a different cast now.

If you buy a ticket to an NBA game before May you're an idiot.

Why? If it helps them in the long run is it not the smart thing to do?

You should be taken seriously on these topics.

Shockingly, every generation is smarter than the last. It makes sense to rest their stars, even the black ones you hate Abbott.

It makes sense for the team, not the fans

On one hand (the crowd reaction makes it so perfect) ...

... on the other hand, the Lakers lost for the 8th straight game and are 10-18.

No. You pay to see the team, not any particular part of it. If I buy a ticket and then the team trades the player I wanted to see, I don't get my money back.

I'd forgotten this was a thing. Can we just go ahead and assume every action Mr. James does is wrong in your eyes? If he plays the game, he's putting meaningless regular season things ahead of what really counts. If he doesn't he's not tough like the old timers who he's already played more games than. If he shoots a lot, ball hog. If he doesn't shrinks from the moment. If he loses a title, fraud. If he wins, so what, someone else from yesteryear did more.

There are a lot of fans who long for the good old days when players were treated more like indentured servants.
