First reaction of Bob Costas was to say that if the three voters who did not choose Griffey did so for any reason other than strategic, their ballots should be revoked. In other words, if somebody is enough of an ass to admit that they did it to keep him from being unanimous, there should be a consequence. Nobody is going to admit that.

 

Oh yeah, missed him when I looked at the list.

 

I have to imagine that 2017 now belongs to Bagwell and Raines, 2018 is Chipper and Hoffman, 2019 is Rivera and Pudge and 2020 is Jeter and Thome

 

Who are the first-timers next year?

 

The main four are Ivan Rodriguez, Manny Ramirez, Vlad Guerrero and Jorge Posada after that the next tier is Mike Cameron and Jason Kendall

The best first-time pitchers are Wakefield and Javier Vasquez.

 

Essentially the ballot lost four candidates (Piazza Griffey McGwire and Trammell) and gained four. If Bagwell had snuck in, it would have been really big for future ballots.

 

When is Vizquel eligible? You would think if Dunston is in, he wil be, too. But it's unpredictable sometimes.

 

Vizquel is first-timer in 2018 with Chipper, Thome, Damon, Rolen and Andruw Jones. (Which is why 2017 might wanna put in three guys)

 

I am thoroughly confused by talk of Shawon Dunston in Cooperstown. But then again I miss plenty of inside jokes, if this is one.
