Name one who is more worthy than Griffey.

 

There are often 7-9 Hall of Famers on a ballot, and that's without a PED backlog.

And if you're leaving Griffey off to keep Mike Mussina on, here's a bulletin -- at 43 percent today, he's not getting to 75 percent any time soon.

 

That means dick all. There's no requirement you rank them.

 

Wrong. Look at the 11 I listed from this year's ballot. All worthy Hall of Faners.

 

That's the whole dick all, Dick. If you're leaving Griffey off and putting 10 candidates in ahead of him, and you don't think those 10 are better than Griffey, than you're playing the game.

 

Which is fine. You are required to pick 10 Hall of Famers. You are not directed to rank them.

 

Just to be clear, because you haven't really come out and said it -- do you think it's a valid move to put somebody on the ballot simply in an attempt to keep him ON the ballot for one more year?

 

Only if you think he's s HOFer.

 

Well, if you think there are 10 HOFers in any given year -- and that's including the PED crew, who I think should be considered -- then you're being too generous with Hall induction.

 

I see your point, but there is no sane way to look at the list of nominees and find 10 who deserve to be on the ballot more than Griffey. None. If you're doing it right, you SHOULD be ranking them, picking the obvious choice and going from there. Anything else is just gaming the system.
