The two best Octobers of my life were the last two with the Royals. My son and I (plus our daughter for the parade last year) have lifelong memories from this.

3BF, savor every second of this. It could be another 71 years.

What makes this even more special is Mrs. t_b_f and I spent so many hours on the road to Pigeon Forge (while I was stationed at Ft. Campbell), dragging two kids to Smokies (Cubs AA program). I remember watching Baez, Russell, and Bryant, marking how good they were. I knew they were special, but I never though they could pull it together so quickly.

Anyone know who the Cubs are playing in the World Series? Do they even have to play anybody, or is it just an automatic coronation?

So, do the Cubs have Steve Bartman throw out the first ball from his seat at Game 3?

Maybe if you don't like sports.

That would not bother me in the least. That and give him a couple of tickets. It would be a public apology, of sorts, for how he was treated.

Unless he has changed his mind recently, he has been very adamant about wanting to be left alone and not used as a prop.

Since we are going back into the 1940s, here's a photo from the 1943 WS:

That's a B-17 flying LOW over Yankee Stadium. Versus the Cardinals.

Here's the story from the air crew:

The people shooting and killing each other dimly vaguely know there is a baseball team in Chicago.

I don't think so. This is certainly no disrespect to the Cleveland Indians and their long-suffering fans, but the Cubs winning the Series would be a much, much bigger deal.

Congrats to all the Cubs fans. Enjoy it. By Tuesday I'm sure all thoughts will turn to panic over what could go wrong.
