Curious why no Soler there. Schwarber can't hit lefties for shit, even when he's healthy.

Miller coming in the 7th and Jansen doing the same a few times, could managers be moving toward the idea of bringing the closers (or best reliever) in during an important spot and not just the 9th? That was Bill James idea a while back, think he was the first to mention it.

Francona and Maddon are known for thinking outside the box, and the Dodgers' front office is filled with old Rays executives, but perhaps it's a trend.

I think, or at least I hope, Buck Showalter and Zach Britton might have been the tipping point of managing to the save statistic.

Roberto Perez hit 3 homers during the regular season. He's got 2 tonight.

    Who needs Lucroy?

The anti-Showalter move. It's nice to preserve your top gun for the ninth inning, but I think in the playoffs, it should be more about the W's than the save. And if you need your ace to put out a fire in, say, the seventh, why not?

That's not really what they're doing, though. Miller didn't come in to put out a fire, he started the inning; and they do that also because they have Allen (and Shaw if needed) behind him.

It's not using the closer out of position, it's just an expansion of the Royals' three-headed monster of the last two years.

He came in after the leadoff man reached base. They do have Allen but if they start next season with the same relievers, would think that Miller is the closer.

Last player with two HRs in his first World Series game - Gene Tenace?

Other than a pitcher, is Schwarbler the first guy to have no regular-season hits and a hit in the World Series?

Where is Allan Roth when I need him?

Troy Glaus in 2002. Not sure if anyone since then.

Andruw Jones also did it in 1996, when he was 19 years old.

You knew Kluber was going to come out with the full arsenal. This one was a pre-requisite for Cleveland. Still like the Cubs in 6.
