I didn't think of it at the time, but Joe Sheehan pointed out that Chris Coghlan should have been available to hit for Baez, except that Maddon had already used him to run for Rizzo.

Coghlan's not that much faster than Rizzo.

Yeah that was a weird pinch run

Why would they have hit for Baez? Why Coghlan?

Lefty for a guy who was a good bet to strike out (which he did).

Baez against RHP this year: .258/.288/.401
Coghlan against RHP this year: .195/.293/.335

Yeah, they really missed a golden opportunity there.

    Cody Allen's splits this year:

    vs. LH: .218/.295/.382
    vs. RH: .139/.230/.270

Hey, Allen's BA allowed is higher than Coghlan's BA recorded!

Sorry, but that's a dumb second-guess. They weren't putting Coghlan up there.

I'd rather have Bartolo Colon at the plate than Coghlan in that situation.

Even with the win, that one was hit!

It would appear Lackey ain't got it tonight. And there sure haven't been many late inning comeback wins this October.
