I figured out Harold Reynolds, he's the guy who goes to a baseball game with a date who knows nothing about baseball so he over explains everything trying to show her what a smart guy he is.

The seventh inning took an hour and six minutes.

Nothing like a 66-minute 7th inning when your page deadline is approaching.

This one may not make the dead tree editions of the West Coast papers without lots of chasers.

Remember that trade like it was a lot closer than over 20 years ago. My buddy, who now is close to retiring from the Secret Service, was so disappointed they got rid of Kelly. I liked Kelly a lot also, but figured Bernie Williams showed a lot of promise and thought O'Neil could maybe hit 30 hr a year at Yankee Stadium. Thought Kelly would be better than he was for Cincy. Guess (before interleague) didn't watch O'Neill enough to realize he was more of a line-drive gap hitter, and wouldn't hit more than 24 hr in a season as a Yankee. But that definitely turned out to be a pretty lopsided trade.

I was happy about it because with the Reds, O'Neill had a great Strat-o-Matic card - tons of walks to go with a good average and some power. My introduction to sabermetrics.

Nice, G_I. although this is making me think of putting it on the you know you're old thread. Does anyone still play Strato on board and not computer? Actually played Statis Pro instead of Strato because my buddy had Statis Pro. Had to look it up, they haven't made new cards since 1991. Five of us played about an 80 or 90-game season with the 1985 cards.
