On an 0-2 pitch, no less.

Point taken. But you're bringing in Chapman to finish the game at that point, aren't you?

It'll be really fun if the rest of the bullpen blows this. A long way to go before that happens, but imagine Cubs fans if they can't hold a five-run lead because they've already burnt their closer.

Nah. You bring in your best reliever in the most important situation.

I agree with that. But don't you make sure that you get to keep him in the game. Stain makes a good point in who do you take out, but if you want your best reliever in, you have to make that tough call. Montero bailed him out, though, so the point is moot.

I guess the real managerial boner was leaving Blanton in there.

Literally the only situation where you take him out is bases loaded, two outs. You have to play the odds, there isn't always a certainty.

So much to love about this pic, even if you aren't a Cubs or Dodgers fan.

The crowd doesn't seem to realize what a no-doubter it is yet.

    Neither does Montero.

Fowler, meanwhile, does an on-deck bat flip.

I just burst out laughing in glee when Fowler basically knocked the shit out of the next pitch from Blanton too. Baseball is a weird game.

The strain of doing what amounts to his between-game throwing in a game does not seem to have affected Kershaw so far.

Cubs making it easy on him. 40 pitches through four innings.
