I thought he made regular appearances at the Olympics, though I don't recall him calling any events there.

He'll help out with the Olympics, I'm sure.

I suppose you're right, but the guy is just so damn good that he should be doing more.

Didn't HS baseball and softball have the no-pitch IBB for a number of years, and then get rid of it?

I know in the mid-80s they had it.

Make them throw it. The IBB is almost always stupid anyway, but there are few things more fun than the once-a-season or so intentional walk wild pitch.

High school baseball in my state still has the no-pitch IBB, or at least it did when I covered preps 2 years ago.

Thank you! I'm glad someone else thinks the same thing. God, those video boards are hideous. But people look at me like I'm nuts. I'm sorry, boards like that have a place in other ballparks but not in Wrigley Field. And don't get me started on the surrounding area. Tom Ricketts wants to turn that into a casino-like atmosphere.

All right, so the Giants are going to slap the Cubs silly in the NLCS as long as Jake Peavy doesn't take the mound.

I like the sounds of that.

Cubs gotta get there first. They are set up beautifull for the old 110-win season, division series sweep.

Pirates' Vogelsong carted off field after being hit in face vs. Rockies.

Quick clarification: He was batting. I figured he was hit by a line drive after reading your post.

Good catch. Haven't seen the video yet, but seen lots of warnings about it.
