If taking a cold-blooded look at a given player and evaluating his worth (both with respect to wins/losses this season and how much talent you could get for him for this and coming seasons) isn't a "baseball decision" ... then just what in the fuck is a "baseball decision"?

Yankees traded two relievers better than Melancon, yet have improved since doing so. Guess it's not about trading the reliever.

OOP's baseball decisions criteria is from the same family as Baron's criteria for helping the middle class.

    They're big Potter Stewart fans.

This game in Detroit tonight for Baltimore feels like it's as must-win as any mid-September game can feel. You just can't afford to lose three in a row the way this AL East/Wild Card race is going.

How'd the Royals do? Big win, presumably?

    Nope. Lost 7-2.

That's surprising. Those were supposed to be free wins.

Calling them free wins is silly. The Royals are only 34-15 against the White Sox the past three years.

More like games that make you want to bang your head against the wall if you manage to lose.

Agreed and that fucking object in the right side mirror is closer than it appears (the fucking NYY). If NYY makes the playoffs and the Os' don't, well fuck. I won't like that one bit.

There were several posts here counting games against the White Sox as presumed wins. Oh, well. At least KC doesn't have to face a Cy Young front runner this weekend.
