Hell of a finish in Baltimore last night ... O's save Britton when Bourn, Machado and Wieters hook up for a game-ending 7-5-2 play at the plate.

Yeah, no free wins anywhere. The Rays are not just playing out the string. Played the Jays tough too.

Sale got a win for the first time in 27 days.

Previous 4 starts: 33 innings, 9 ER, 40 strikeouts, great WHIP and to show for it: 1 loss and 3 no-decisions.

Buster Posey celebrates the two-month anniversary of his last home run ... with a home run.

Giants on verge of pushing Cardinals out of the race. They've won the first two of a four-game series and have a three-game WC lead. Would be the first time St. Louis misses the postseason since 2010.

Three games back with 15 left is not nearly out of the race.

    "On verge of."

If Giants win final two of series, that'd be about it.

They pulled it out, though. And Five Inning Jake is going today.

Mets shutting down de Grom, surgery on the way. So there may be some life in the Cardinals yet.

Five Inning Jake squeezed an extra three outs out of the hose today.
