Jackie Robinson Day doesn't feel right being played under the lights. It should be a day game. Schedule it for the Sunday closest to the day. Just my opinion.

One of the areas the Pirates got weaker in the offseason was the bullpen. The Pirates had the lowest bullpen ERA in the majors last year at 2.67. That number currently stands at 4.91, 24th in the majors.

They also left themselves relying on the crappiness that is Jeff Locke in the starting rotation. He failed to make it through the fifth inning tonight and they trail the Brewers, 5-0, in the sixth. A loss would drop them below .500.

Of course, it is a bit early to put too much stock in team statistics, but it is not too early to realize that Locke once again sucks and the pitching staff lacks the depth it had in the rotation and bullpen that it had by the end of 2015.

 

I'm right with you in the "Pirates are overrated" bandwagon. .500ish team on paper, 7th or 8th in NL.

Getting way too much credit for recent success, which counts for zero in this year's standings.

 

Kershaw v. Bumgarner for the 9th time, in a few on MLB Network.

 

So no complete games before yesterday and now 3 (shutouts) in the last 24 hours after Sale just notched a 1-0 gem in Tampa Bay.
