2016 MLB Regular-Season Thread

Harvey's a goner after this year. They can't sign him long-term and every year they hang on to him diminishes his value. You can trade him after the season and say he's going to be 28 in March, he is fully back from TJ surgery, etc etc. Gets harder prior to 2018. He's also a massive PITA the team can't wait to shed, which becomes more obvious with each passing day.

As you noted, deGrom doesn't have a lot of mileage in that arm so I guess he has a better chance at being the exception to the post-30 malaise that seems to get most pitchers in the post-PED era. But his early-season performance isn't a great sign in that regard.

 

Where does Zack Wheeler fit into this? He'll be back this year, right?

 

Yup, July. Theoretically he's the Harvey replacement for 2017.

Health-permitting, that's as good as a rotation as this year's.

 

Fair point, but the way he's pitching right now, they won't get much of a haul for him.
