ESPN wrestling with fiction/non-fiction in deciding to 'cover' WWE

He makes a few good points, but from some of the stuff he writes and his concept of how rasslin' is "covered" ... I don't think the ESPN public editor bothered to read his own product before publishing this.

I may not be able to get off work early enough to get to watch the Punk fight. Does anyone stream UFC regularly? What's the best way to stream on my iPhone?

And who thinks Puk has a shot? I just hope he doesn't get embarrassed.

I've streamed their Fight Pass on an Android tablet but never an actual PPV......

I'd say he has a chance just based on his team/coach and how much of an unknown Gall is. He hasn't looked great in training vids but it's not out of the realm of possibility that the guys he's training with are better than Gall.

    Soooo ....

Does Punk fly cross-country and do a surprise run-in in Richmond tomorrow night?

Wow. That was 90 seconds of 'holy shit this is awesome' to 'holy shit this is awful.'

I didn't expect him to win, but it was still disappointing. I still like Punk. Mostly because I paid for his house.

I think he got too caught up in the moment during the walkout with his music. Most fighters go out and are zeroed in on the task, stone faced. Punk got hyped, got a smile on his face, and got beat up. Two years for two minutes and a fucked up ear.

Cynical take: Dana White will likely cut him. He might have one more small promotion fight. Probably not. Ultimately, he needs money because the WWE will absolutely drain him with this doctor's lawsuit, and he's too damn stubborn to settle. A small promotion can't pay him. He could wind up in New Japan for Wrestle Kingdom. He could try to do a show or podcast like everyone else. He'll continue to do comic con signings. He could keep writing for Marvel comics. There are options. But I don't see him fighting again.

It was pretty bad. Unless it turns out Gall is actually really really good.......I would've expected that someone with the time, money, focus and effort to train with a top tier team for two years would've been able to defend himself more intelligently on the ground. He looked like an amateur.

So, if he ever does make a wrestling comeback, how much does this weaken him? He got whooped by a nobody. That's gotta hurt some, doesn't it? Especially if he returns anytime soon.

I would think, if anything, he needs to fight one more, but against some nobody who he can beat easily. Otherwise, if he ever does come back, an 0-1 record doesn't cry out as best in the world.

If anything, I'd certainly be interested in what kind of promo he could come up with to talk people back onto his side.

Maybe a "I'm starting at the bottom to work my way back up" angle could work.

Wrestling wise unless he does another program with Lesnar it doesnt matter.

His fans would so psyched to see him in a ring, the realism if losing to Gall wont matter

Yeah - Punk back to WWE is clearly now the forerunner for "Biggest Pop Possible," rivaled only maybe by Jeff Hardy or Kurt Angle. Just the circumstances that he left, and his popularity still with the smart fans. Vince is the type to hold a grudge, but that's never gotten in his way to make a buck, whether it's bringing back Hogan for the Xth time or making amends with Warrior. If and when Punk decides he wants to wrestle again, WWE will hire him back quick.

Unless Vince is dead by then and HHH is a dìck.

How high is Matt Hardy on the pop list after this summer? Depends on the smarkdom of the town?

Looks like Smackdown ppv is doomed......rough cold open with Shane, rough card, and maybe no Orton? Woof.
