I think a big difference between Cena and the other legends, too, is the way booking has changed. Sammartino and Hogan had one or two big shows a year to build toward. All of Hogan's memorable feuds (Piper, Orndorff, Bundy, Andre/Dibiase, Savage) were geared toward selling out Wrestlemania and were drawn out for months — and the fans were OK with that. They didn't have to do a PPV a month.
In Cena's era, a feud that lasts longer than three PPVs starts to drag. Something has to really connect in that three-month span to make it memorable. That Cena probably had a half-dozen feuds with Edge doesn't help, either. Hogan and Savage had their share later on, but IIRC their one leading up to Wrestlemania V was the only time they went head-to-head in the WWE.

In this day and age, it's hard to build a months-long program without people losing interest. Angles don't need to last as long as they once did, and I'm glad they don't.

It's a completely different era. Feuds don't need to be five or six months long to make them meaningful, and I know some fans who would tune out if that was the case.

I did not like the Hardy stuff at first, but my gosh -- that is absolutely brilliant.

Same for Cena vs CM Punk. In another era that fued headlines two Wresltemanias. In 2010 or 11 it went from MITB in June to Summerslam.

But if Punk hadn't left and they eventually crossed again it could've been career defining.

Will David Arquette be the special guest referee?
I've got a bad feeling about this.

Styles saved that dude's life last night.

He tucked his chin while taking the Styles Clash, and AJ was able to adjust midair to hit so Ellsworth wouldn't get hurt. Incredible stuff.

Yeah, there's been some concern over the Styles Clash over the risk of injury. To take the move properly, the wrestler has to do the opposite of what they're always supposed to do, which is tuck the chin. If a guy forgets, it can be disastrous.

There's also talk that Heyman is helping out in creative. I wonder if this storyline has his hands on it.

Ellsworth may be the modern-day Wrestling School Dropout, or Mikey Whipwreck.

Bullshit. There's no chin to tuck.
