Welp. There's the path right there for Wrestlemania. Goldberg beats Owens for the belt at Fastlane and defends against Brock at WM. Then you've got a pissed-off Owens taking out his frustrations against Y2J.

Well, except that one's dead, which might make a commercial tough. ;) Could do it with Animal and Baby Animal, a.k.a. James Laurinaitis.

If we get Goldberg-Lesnar at Wrestlemania 34, I hope it makes their WM 20 match look like Savage-Steamboat by comparison. I have no problem with the old part-timers coming back for the nostalgia match, but giving them title matches is asinine. Especially when they've spent all of 15 minutes total in a ring in the last 15 years.

If they do Goldberg-Lesnar, seven of the last eight Wrestlemania main events will have featured at least one part-time or one-off guy, and the eighth one's outcome was directly determined by a one-off guy's interference.

    That's kind of pathetic.

Is it just me or could Joe have looked a little stronger? He should've beat the holy hell out of Reigns and he was kind of a Strowman prop instead.

I don't like the weaseley KO vs Goldberg. If he has to job at least let him he the badass prize fighter during the build

Yeah, they could've set Joe up as a hardcore badass, the assassin they were billing him as, and still let Reigns look good. But having Joe on the verge of losing only to be rescued by Strowman doesn't do much to build him.

    Observer from Feb. 9:

    - Rollins did suffer a torn right MCL, and he’s off for Fastlane, but they’re still planning for Mania as if he’ll be on the card vs. Triple H. Rich Swann also has an ankle injury, which is why they audibled to Jack Gallagher in the cruiserweight title match.

    - Austin Aries, 38, has been cleared to wrestle. The company is expected to build toward an Aries vs. Neville match for Mania.

    - Nikki Bella, 33, isn’t retiring after Mania, but will be only wrestling part-time after that. Her neck injury has been recurring, with numbness in her body after matches.

    - Viacom will be rebranding Spike TV as the Paramount Network in 2018. Spike last broadcast wrestling, TNA, in 2014, and had preliminary talks with other promotions, but nothing too serious. It’s unknown if they’ll keep Bellator on the network.

    - Slobberknocker, the Jim Ross autobiography from his early life through 1999, is scheduled for an Oct. 2 release.

    - Kevin Nash, 57, will be undergoing surgery for a torn labrum and a torn rotator cuff. Nash said it’s his 31st operation.

    - Jeff Jarrett has replaced John Gaburick as the head of TNA. Dixie Carter is also gone, as she only retains a title, and Serg Salinas is also gone. Dutch Mantel and Scott D’Amore have been hired for creative. It’s unknown if they’ll keep Josh Mathews or move back to Mike Tenay for announcing. Mathews’ reception has been just OK, but Tenay’s contract was for more.

    - Because Jarrett is back in power, relations between TNA and ROH are now strained. The Hardys vs. the Young Bucks is the only cross-promotion planned for the future. Speaking of, the Hardys are now unsigned, as so is Drew Galloway (McIntyre from his WWE days). The Hardys have free reign now, but Jarrett will probably actually have a creative team.

    - TNA and NOAH have a talent swapping deal, and one could also be worked out for Crash, a new Mexican promotion with Konnan. However, the most popular wrestlers (Rey Mysterio, Richochet) would be limited from working on TNA because of their Lucha Underground contracts.

    - WWE Films has signed the Rock to appear in a movie based on Paige’s life and family, Fighting With My Life. She famously is a product of a wrestling family, and it’s about how moving from the UK to the US puts stress on a family. The Rock is an executive producer and has agreed to appear in the movie.

Less certain is Paige’s status with the company. Del Rio in interviews has said she’s training to be in MMA. She’s been off WWE television for months now, and most think she’s trying to get released, but the company might be reluctant to do so with the Rock now involved in this movie loosely based on her life.

    - Mike Adamle, 67, formerly of the WWE in 2008 and a former college football and NFL player, said he’s suffering from dementia. He’s retiring as a sports anchor from a Chicago station as a result.

    - Sonjay Dutt was at the performance center this week, and he’s been helping out a bit with NXT. He’s also had talks with ROH and TNA.

    - Erick Rowan has started physical rehab after rotator cuff surgery.

    - WWE has signed Dana Warrior, his wife, to an ambassador deal for several years. This will allow them to continue using his name in marketing.

    - More than 40 men and women were brought in by WWE for tryouts. The “famous” names: Isaiah Stanback, 32, former UWash QB; Terron Beckham, cousin of Odell; Katsiryna Kavaleva, a 6’5” female kickboxer from Belarus. Some undercard ROH and low college talents were included in the mix.
