    should be:
    Alice, you're smart with 152 IQ and perfect grades.
    However, the other 11 kids in your class are dumb and failed every subject; therefore, we are not allowed to acknowledge your accomplishments.
    Even though you are so smart that you raised your class's total score to No. 2 in the nation, you're accomplishments mean nothing.
    Johnny isn't as smart as you at 149, but he has 11 reasonably intelligent kids in his class.
    Johnny's class finished no. 1 in the nation; therefore, Johnny is a better student than you are, Alice.
