In other news, 40-year-old Jamal Crawford dropped 51 on the Mavs tonight.

I've never understood why the Lakers allowed Johnson to pop in and pop out of his involvement with the team. He's a fine ambassador, but not exactly the guy you want at the helm when the seas get choppy. At a time when the team needed real leadership. He bailed.

How long until LaVar starts campaigning for the job?

However, Magic liked the idea of running the Lakers when Jeanie Buss broached it to him … until he figured out it was a job, not an adventure.

Magic’s idea of how to run a team differed from the others running teams unless you’re talking about Charlotte owner Michael Jordan, another NBA immortal who is rarely around the front office, or even in town much.

Your basic NBA boss of bosses works out of the office, where he’s on the phone four hours at a time to agents, GMs and the press. The agents just want to complain about some indignity suffered by their clients and the press is just looking for a story but in the end, it’s a way to stay in touch with everyone on everything.

Magic didn’t work out of the Lakers office. He came in for formal meetings, few as those were. He didn’t scout.

All of the older people who love to complain about millennials and their social media should take note that one of the reasons magic gave for quitting was that he couldn't tweet at Russell Westbrook.

He’s been at it since 2017

Yeah, maybe, but it’s a better story. it’s also a better explanation than Magic doesn’t work very hard and isn’t good at his job.

That's one of the main reasons Magic is shuffling out of town: he didn't put the shit hammer down on LaVar the second LeBron arrived.

Some of you guys are so obsessed with this it's bizarre.

How many times do you figure Magic has even talked to LaVar in the last six months? If you put the over/under at 1 1/2, I'll take the under.

Well, if I was Magic Johnson, the number would be one (1).

And the conversation would go something like this: "LaVar, LeBron James is here. Your son sucks. We've just traded him to the expansion franchise in East Assholistan. Goodbye."
