I lived in Montreal for a year in 2000, and fell in love watching his father. I followed Sr. the rest of his career, and I've kept an eye on Jr. when I could. Seeing that last night brought back some really great memories.

Is that the most exciting spring training home run ever?

I'm similar in that a buddy and I went to a game there in 2002 and Vlad's family sat in the row in front of us, including his son, who wore a jersey that read "Vlad Jr." on the back. They were extremely friendly, Vlad Jr. was hysterical, and we had a fantastic time at the game. Always rooted for Sr. after that, and now I'm looking forward to seeing what that pudgy little kid can turn into.

The question wasn’t who is the better hitter or who produces more runs, Rose or Trout. The question was whether trout could get the hit record, that rose holds.

Bet they were all wOBAcons for the ages.

You understand that if baseball was using wOBA for the last 150 years, then introduced RBIs, people would be making fun of "RBI" as an acronym, too, right? You're just used to it.

And slashes on TV -- Avg./HR/wOBA -- would look pretty cool too.

People do seem to have accepted .Avg./OBP/.Slg slash line as a nice representation of a hitter's prowess. I feel like it's well on its way to replacing Avg./HR/RBI as the alpha dog.
