Had no idea. Also didn’t know he started for the Jets.

    Sidejack for pet peeve:

He twice returned from torn Achilles tendon injuries that ended two seasons. Johnson tore his Achilles in the season opener in 2014 and again late in the season in 2016.

When someone has two of something (arms, legs, hands, feet, etc.), make it clear which one is affected. In the case of injuries, to not do so leaves the reader wondering which one is injured. And in a case like this, the reader is left wondering if it was the same Achilles both times, which could mean a tougher rehab the second time. From what I could find online, it was not, though the excerpt above leaves the reader thinking it was the same one.

Be clear every time. I had to wade through eight previous online stories to find the answers:

He twice returned from torn Achilles tendon injuries that ended two seasons. Johnson tore his right Achilles in the season opener in 2014 and again his left Achilles late in the season in 2016.

College football attendance down 3.2 percent across the FBS. Even the sacrosanct SEC is down every bit as much as the country as a whole. And it's the second-largest decline in decades, according to CBS. Meanwhile, the NFL's attendance is flat year over year (down 0.19 percent.)
I'm baffled. I thought real Americans were abandoning the NFL in droves because of those damned social justice warriors in cleats.

Nah, it's because the "student-athletes" are now getting a few extra thousand for expenses on top of their scholarships. It's ruined the whole "playing for the love of the school" thing.

Can you imagine if the NFL waited until a week before the games to announce when they would be played and the times could range from 12 noon to 9 p.m. local time?
I really can't think of a more damaging thing the college game has done. Moving more games to night, killing a lot of the gameday vibe around campus, hurting the schools' chance to organize events around football weekends and causing hardship to the majority of college football fans who travel more than 30 miles to and from games.

That's all true, but it has been common practice for quite some time.

I think fans accepted "flexibility" if it meant a showcase game (a game of the week kind of thing) - not so much to fill a slot in the conference cable package when there are already two other games in the slot being broadcast by ESPN2 and FS1.
And the Pac-12 can't even make the argument that the declining stadium attendance is "worth it" for TV money. The pac 12 has the worst ratings of the P5 conferences

Hard to believe Janikowski is done in Oakland. Even harder to believe, he only made one Pro Bowl. Vinatieri has only made three?

I trhink college football attendance has been hurt by the mismatches. It seems to be that people still continue to turn out for competitive games but are far less willing to show up for a SEC team playing a cupcake.

College football attendance has been hurt by the fact that it’s too damn awesome to sit in front of the TV and monitor eight games at a time.
