On the fence about Bears signing Robinson, but would be nice if there’s less competition.

All of these statements can be generally true and Sherman can still be making a mistake by representing himself. Volin (who, unlike most NFL writers in New England, is not embedded far up the ass of the Patriots and the establishment) can be condescending and still correct in believing Sherman, blinded by a desire to prove the Seahawks wrong twice a year, rushed into a deal that more experienced negotiators were only happy to make. If it was a good idea to represent yourself, wouldn't more guys do it?

I don't know that many guys want to deal with the hassle of representing themselves. Sherman's a very bright and exceedingly confident guy -- if anyone's going to pull it off, it's him.

Having said that, I thought that the agents took at bigger cut. At 1.5%, I'd happily let an agent handle it.

Most agents do take more than 1.5%.

edit: well they used to take more, didn't realize it changed a couple years ago

Keenum to Denver, Norwell to Jaguars.

Watkins reportedly headed to Chiefs. I don’t get paying him big money. Has never been a consistent producer. He was often invisible in L.A. last year.

Keenum to Denver is a huge domino.

The Vikings have reportedly contacted Brees, but I still don't see him leaving New Orleans.

So if Cousins for some reason chooses the Jets, that's gonna leave a Super Bowl-ready team in Minnesota with ... AJ McCarron?

Possibly, though a year go I doubt you could have found anybody who would take Keenum over McCarron.

The Vikings definitely have a problem and this certainly could make Cousins even more expensive.

I think you are over estimating the intelligence of agents. It’s not rocket science to negotiate a contract with an employer you with whom you are obligated to work. Free agents contracts are a bit different.

Based on his contract with SF Sherman wasn’t all that experienced The risk is on him to be healthy and Pro Bowl. If he can’t do both, he loses big time. 6 million of his 39 million is tied to him being an All Pro in each of the next 3 seasons. And another 2million is tied to him being a pro bowl player this season. The pro bowl is interesting clause. Between the replacements for injured players, the healthy scratches, and the Super Bowl players, making a Pro Bowl shouldn’t be that hard for a premier, name player unless it’s Getting selected for the PB as the initial 1st or second team.

A couple friends of mine are over the moon excited about Watkins. I hesitantly reminded them that there is a reason the Bills and the Rams didn't want him anymore.
If they're going to unleash Mahomes, they're going to have to do a helluva lot better than Sammy Watkins.

Watkins is on his third team in three years. That’s usually a red flag. He is still very young so he’s getting paid for potential. We’ll see if he can put a good season together.

This almost guarantees that the Vikings will way overpay for Cousins.
