Well, so much for an exciting overtime.

Yeah, that was exciting ... and then incredibly underwhelming. Good match, though.

Meltzer said Kevin Dunn ordered the clock to be taken off the arena, and then put back on because they were unhappy the crowd kept doing countdowns.

It was annoying and lame. Im always a proponent of letting the crowd do what it wants, its the responsibility of the performers to hold their attention, but my god if there’s fans whod rather chant the clock than get sucked into a great match by Rollins and Ziggler there may be no hope for humanity

I was fine with it during the lulls of the match, and chuckled when they did the buzzer. But by the end, they should have been paying attention.

Its shitty from a “smark” perspective too. They gave a main event we wanted and that’s the reaction? Probably makes some in WWE think they might as well have closed with the damn big dog, which is too bad

On another note, we've all seen ironman matches that went into overtime. Why isn't that the standard rule for those matches, instead of having the GM come out and make a grand pronouncement? Especially in a match that's supposed to settle something between these two guys?
When Rollins was behind 4-3 I kept wondering why they kept playing up the idea of him needing to tie it by the 8-minute mark, as I'm sitting there thinking to myself, "Why? He only needs to tie and send it to overtime. He's got plenty of time for that."

Similarly, why would Rollins chase Ziggler into the crowd when a count out would've given him a 5-4 win and the IC title? You could say "because sports" same reason JR Smith pisses away the last shot in the NBA finals, losing your head in the moment and the pressure all that that, but 1) You need an announcer to articulate that for the audience and 2_ You hope Rollins is better than the likes of JR Smith.

Well, that sort of made sense because you have to figure Ziggler was stalling for time but knew the situation and would wait until the count hit 8 or 9 before getting back in the ring. So Rollins goes out after him to keep that from happening.
Earlier in the match, there was a smart spot with that them. I think Ziggler hit a dropkick on Rollins to knock him off the top turnbuckle to the floor, and Ziggler wisely urged the ref to start counting immediately instead of going out to inflict more punishment.

That flushing sound you heard was the buyrate for Summerfest going down the toilet.

That said, if it leads to getting the belt off of Brock -- and even better, if it leads to putting it on Strowman by the end of the night -- I'm totally cool with it.
