Michigan State football could go into a deep shitter for a half decade.

Right. So does pissing away another season to get the right coach as opposed to just a coach really matter at this point? Regardless, there w0n't be a quick turnaround.

Pretty much nothing can stop that now. They've already had three dud recruiting classes in a row, next season is probably trashed already. It'll probably be 2022 before the next coach, whoever it is, can really get going, and then they'll be coming off two big losing years in a row.
Which doesn't even take into account the prospects of NCAA penalties.

    And I’ll say it again
Were the five years of glory — three Big Ten titles, a Rose Bowl and a CFP — worth this?
    Absolutely

Well, they don't talk too much about the CFP because they got ass smoked by their great god Saban, 38-0, and it could have been 88-0 if he had been in a bad mood.

Oh, incidentally, one amusing tidbit is that Dan Enos, former Sparty QB under Perles who most recently was OC at Miami, is considered "an utter non-starter" in the coaching discussion.

Why? Well, there are plenty of perfectly good football reasons why Enos shouldn't be in the mix -- he got whacked at Miami after a shutout bowl loss and earlier faceplanted at CMU -- but you wanna guess the main reason Enos is off the lists?

Because Nick Saban is mad at him.

(Even better is the reason Saban is mad-- Saban is mad because Enos jumped his contract as a Bama assistant abruptly to take a better job. There's nothing that pisses off Nick Saban more than guys jumping coaching contracts.)

This thread has more michigan state football than I ever had hoped to consume in my life.

MSU makes Pitt football look like a well-oiled machine, and those dildos once fired Dave Wannstedt to hire Mike Haywood -- who never coached a game after getting arrested for domestic battery. Then, he sued the school for wrongful termination when the charges were dropped. So Pitt was paying Wannstedt to not coach, Todd Graham to coach and Haywood to be mad for being fired as coach.

It'll be fun in a couple of days when it's announced that the new football coach will be the ghost of George Perles.

There are definitely some similarities-- shifty maneuvering on the board of trustees, head honchos at another dominant state program sticking their thumbs in, etc etc
