And canning the regular season? (You're obviously a teensy bit more plugged in than me...)

I’m a Calgary Flames season ticket holder and I won’t be attending any games a) because it’s summer, and b) I wouldn’t feel safe. Others might.

Do you know if it will be top 12 from each conference? Larry Brook had something about this last week, and said that they could go top 12 from the conference or top 6 from each division. If they do it at the division level, the Rangers don't get in and two teams with worse records do.

As for feeling safe as a fan, I assumed it would be in empty arenas.

I am sure a lot of players have trepidations.

No fans until whenever 2020-21 season begins — at least, I believe

that’s what I think, yes. My guess is Rangers get moved to Atlantic.

That would be fair and makes total sense, considering the divisional playoff setup only guaranteed the first three teams in each division get into the playoffs. All wild cards after that. The sixth-place team in the Atlantic shouldn't get in over a Rangers team with a better record.

Interesting. Top twelve in each conference would mean the three non-qualifiers in the West would be the three California teams.

Just because I'm bored and it's fun to speculate about sports ... so your playoff field would presumably be:

    EAST
First round (Boston, Tampa Bay, Washington, Philadelphia get byes)
    Pittsburgh (M3) vs. Montreal (WC6)
    Toronto (A3) vs. Florida (WC5)
Carolina (WC1) vs. NY Rangers (WC4)
Columbus (WC2) vs. NY Islanders (WC3)

    WEST
First round (St. Louis, Colorado, Vegas, Edmonton get byes)
    Dallas (C3) vs. Chicago (WC6)
    Calgary (P3) vs. Arizona (WC5)
    Winnipeg (WC1) vs. Minnesota (WC4)
    Nashville (WC2) vs. Vancouver (WC3)

And then you reseed after that for the quarterfinals to set up the respective division brackets? Who the hell knows.

After having not played for two months, I'm not sure I would want to have a bye, waiting to play a team which just had some games to get back in synch.

Can't imagine what a headache border crossings could be. And bringing back the players not in North America?
