And the 0-10 with RISP made it a slow torturous not-so-fun waterboarding experience too.

So... I knew of the term “openers” but I’m quite intrigued by the term “bullpen” games. Holy shit, you get thus far and don’t have a fourth starter and run the risk of putting lots of innings on 4 or more pitchers? Doesn’t sound like a good thing to do with Game 5 looming the next day.

Happened in the ALCS - both Houston and NYY did it on the same day, and I was thinking WTF is this? You work all season to get this far, and you are playing critical games as “bullpen” games?

I wish I could ask Earl Weaver for his opinion on this.

Even as a fan on the West Coast, I look up in the fifth or sixth inning and see three hours are gone already. They'll never touch the third rail of less commercials between innings, which would be logical.

Bullpenning? What the hell are you saving your starters for this time of year, the spring training opener? We're gonna see a bullpen game go long and decided with position players pitching because a manager ran out of arms.

At least in the past, you'd have your 4th or 5th starter in the bullpen, because 1) you might need a garbage time pitcher to just soak up some innings in a blowout or 2) most starters, their stuff will tick up if they only have to pitch an inning or two. Looks like the Astros had Wade Miley and Jose Urquidy (rookie) in those roles, so I can understand why you're not going to expect even five innings out of either.

The Nationals are done, by the way. Have to beat either Cole or Verlander or both TWICE to win the Series. Not gonna happen.

Well Verlander is only pitcher ever to go 0-6 in WS; so there’s that.
