I always thought the World Series was a perfect opportunity for rotating teams of announcers, and only the best.
It would be a win-win for the fans- and for Buck.
ESPN did this years ago with Summerall when Mike Patrick took ill, and it went over very well.

I assume podcast was by somebody who started watching baseball in 2006. Try '69 Mets vs. '69 Orioles. Seaver, Koosman, Ryan, McGraw vs. Cuellar, McNally and Palmer. Or 1963 Dodgers vs. 1963 Yankees. Koufax and Drysdale vs. Whitey Ford and then hotshot youngster Jim Bouton. Or let's go way back. 1905. Giants win in five over Athletics. Hall of Famer A Eddie Plank pitched two complete games with an ERA of 1.67 and was 0-2. Giants Christy Mathewson, Joe McGinnity (both HoF) and Red Ames (only three pitchers used, and Ames was in relief once) had a combined ERA of 0.00. I know the game was not even the same sport back then, but damn!

Nolan Ryan pitched 2 innings in relief in his only WS appearance in 69. Otherwise, spot on.

    What about 2001?
Johnson/Schilling/Mussina/Pettitte/Clemens/El Duque (I think)....Arizona had Anderson/Batista as the other two starters, but, for them, it almost didnt matter

Handful of empty seats behind home plate. In a home-team clinching game. What is this, Yankee Stadium?

Back in the day the World Series announcers were Curt Gowdy and one from the home team
In 1968 Harry Caray worked with Gowdy in St. Louis and George Kell did the honors in Detroit

I get your point, but those people are in the stadium, just not in their seats. That's life in a sports stadium today.

Loved Soto carrying the bat to first in response to Bregman. That was quality one-upmanship.
