The Tigers won their 44th game last night, meaning they will not equal the 2003 Tigers, who set the AL record of 119 losses
They might not win 50, but they still have to fight off the Orioles, who they beat last night, for the No. 1 pick
Right now, the likely choice looks like Arizona State 1B Spencer Torkelson
Tigers fans are already adopting the slogan "Tank for Tork."

Tigers and Orioles both have 100+ losses. I wonder how many times two teams have met when both had lost at least 100 games.

First time in American League history, according to the Tigers beat writers. History being made!

Toronto has a shot, too. Would be their first since 1979 — third season of the franchise

Damn, should have driven up there for the history.

Although this implies that it's happened in the NL.

    100-loss seasons for the Tigers:

    1901-1951: 0
    1952-1974: 1
    1975-1988: 1
    Since 1989: 5

The 1962 Mets (40-120) finished their season against the ninth-place Cubs (59-103).

I'd be very surprised if it happened pre-expansion (chances of two teams with 100-plus losses in an eight-team league are quite low). However, the 1898 Senators and Brown both lost more than 100 games in a 154-game season, but didn't play each other again after Aug. 26.

Saw on SportsCenter over the weekend that there were two instances where teams played that were both 50 games under .500 and lost over 100 games in the season.

1969 Expos/Padres (they were both 50 games under.500 when they met in late August, but technically they didn't play each other when they both had 100 losses.

1905 Boston Beaneaters/Brooklyn Superbas: finished the season with a 5 game series, where the 48-104 Superbas won 4 of 5 to put the Beaneaters at 51-103.

After yesterday's debacle, it looks like the Cardinals are going to gack this thing away. Fucking Cubs are on fire, as are the Brewers.

St. Louis has to play three against Washington's top trio, four at Wrigley, three against Arizona and end with three at home vs. the Cubs. Two weeks ago, it looked like the Cards had grabbed the division by the throat, but a big part of that was playing the dog-ass Pirates and Reds. Now it will be a miracle if the Cardinals make the postseason.

    Fuck it. It's Mahomes season.

Don't be too worried about these next three. I have a weird feeling the Nats are about to bungle their way out of the wild card game.

The Cardinals worst non-move in the last decade was not signing Scherzer. Local guy, wanted to play for his favorite team growing up. Cardinals balked and probably cost themselves a World Series appearance or three.

If all three Nats pitchers strike out 15 each, it wouldn't surprise me.
