In all fairness, everything Leonard did was at the most leisurely of paces.

Watching Vlad Jr.'s second AB and you see why everyone talks about how uncommon his power is. He hammered a 3-1 slider that was pretty well inside off the end of the bat and nearly knocked it out of the park. It looked like the kind of swing that would usually be a pop out. Pinder made a nice leaping catch to corral it, so it was nothing more than a loud out, but when you see the replay of how the ball strikes the bat, it really had no business going as far as it did.

When his dad was in his prime, if the pitch came towards home plate, there was a good chance that Vlad was gonna take a whack at it.

This was moons ago, and I remember it like it was yesterday. Can't hear the name Jeffrey Leonard and not think of this.

    RIP Skip.

Eloy Jimenez just left the game after jumping awkwardly into the wall. Didn’t look good.

Supposedly, his plate discipline is better than his father's.

Guerrero gets the hype and deserves it, but it was Carter Kieboom who hit a home run in his major league debut for the Nationals tonight. Kieboom is a shortstop who has been learning second base because Washington has Trea Turner. The Nationals initially kept him in the minors when Turner got hurt, but he has been raking in Triple A, so he got his shot today.

The Giants have nobody better to stick in the outfield than Brandon Belt?

I missed this last week. What a neat story

Cole Tucker's parents witness his first home run

It reminds me of when I worked as an usher at Dodger Stadium in September 1980. A man approached me on the third level of the stadium and asked how to get to the clubhouse. I asked him why and he said his son was called up that day and he drove all night from Oregon and bought a ticket at the box office. His son? Wally Backman.
