I have a good friend who lives in St. Louis who was so excited to take me to Ted Drewes. I couldn’t tell her that it was just OK. It would have been like if someone told me they don’t like In N Out.

Interesting move by the Mets. They certainly didn’t have to do it now, with control over deGrom for 2019 and 2020.

I wonder how much of the decision to extend him was because of the growing discord in the clubhouse.

Yeah, Syndergaard was none too happy about the team flying from Florida to Syracuse for a PR workout before going to Washington for the opener. Can’t say I blame him. It’s an extra trip to publicize the new Triple-A affiliate, it takes them out of their way to Washington and it’s an extra day they either could have spent in Florida, or had a day off at home in New York.

By 2020, if deGrom doesn't get hurt, the extension will seem the epitome of financial prudence.

It's the Mets. That's a big goddamn "if."

The Mets also play a 6 p.m. game at the Marlins next Wednesday, then have their 1 p.m. home opener the following day. Well done, MLB.

Gotta love a world where people have the opportunity to earn $137M playing a game and yet still complain about having to travel.

Giants' CEO Larry Baer suspended through July 1:

MLB suspends Giants CEO Baer through July 1

I'm surprised at the severity but don't question it. Critics of this decision will say that "he's been convicted of nothing" but IMHO this is not the government, this is a private body and they can do anything they want (short of wrongful discrimination). Someday I hope people realize that in a private job you're not guaranteed the same right Bill of Rights as with respect to the government.

In this instance I think MLB said "you are the CEO of a franchise, no you're not an everyday man, you represent a team and MLB and under NO circumstances should you or anyone in your position be involved in a physical (slight) altercation with your spouse, every." For that I applaud MLB.

Why shouldn't they expect some consideration be given to their schedules so that their performances are maximized? It's not like complaining about the clubhouse spread or carrying bags. The unnecessary travel and poor scheduling can be avoided at little cost to the team or MLB.
