So we got the Jays-Indians game on YouTube last night. I accessed it through the PS4 and had no buffering or audio issues all night (although plenty of people bitching on Twitter did). Presentation wasn't bad - and I didn't mind no commercials between innings or during pitching changes - but the commentary was often inane (Cliff Floyd, who often appears on the Jays broadcasts, was by far the best of the trio, Sean Casey never shut up) and having an in-game interview with Jays catcher Danny Jansen and an interminable, inning-long visit in the both from some YouTube celebrity was a drag. No out-of-town scores or highlights from other games was a noticeable omission.

I watched the Dodgers-Phillies broadcast last week. On my phone, the video was ahead of the audio, so I would see a play then hear about it. I went home for lunch and to catch the last couple innings, and the picture continually buffered on my Smart TV.

Check out the end of Angels-Dodgers last night. Sometimes you forget how exciting baseball can be when the game ends on a play at the plate -- Calhoun vs. Bellinger. Helluva game. Trout also threw out a guy at the plate then hit a 454-foot homer.

38 years ago, this might be the best thing you'll see all day. I remember when it happened because it was a big deal in DC trying to prove their support for a team

That swing by Trout is a thing of beauty, so compact, so powerful, so balanced.

For the first 60 feet, that was a hell of a pitch.

The Yankees-Twins game was pretty phenomenal, too, with the Yankees scoring five in the eighth for a 1-run lead, followed by the Twins retaking the lead in the bottom of the inning with a pair of runs. Yanks went ahead in the ninth with two more, and Chapman blew the save to send the game to extra innings. Yanks scored twice in the 10th, then the Twins loaded the bases before Hicks made a diving two-out catch deep in the left-center gap for a spectacular finish to the game.
